Nick Tanzi - President & CEO, GPX Global Systems, Inc.

Nick Tanzi is President & CEO of GPX Global Systems, Inc., a private carrier neutral Internet exchange provider focused on emerging markets in the Middle East and South Asia.

Prior to GPX Nick was President and CEO of Metromedia Fiber Networks (MFN), where he was responsible for selling the metro dark fiber assets developed by the company. During his tenure at MFN, he revolved the company‘s strategy to include new classes of services such as WaveChannel, Gigabit Ethernet and IP/Optical services to sell to enterprise and carrier customers. Nick also helped the company develop its Internet Services business to expand the value of the company‘s fiber assets. He did this through the acquisition of companies such as Abovenet Communications, PAIX, and SiteSmith.

Before joining Metromedia in 1998, Nick was VP for Sales and Marketing of Fujitsu America‘s Fiber Optics Products Division that was responsible for selling into the US carrier market. Prior to Fujitsu, Nick had a 17 year career with Digital Equipment Corporation starting as a network engineer and rising to become the General Manager of the Network Services Group.

Thomas Byrnes - Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, GPX Global Systems, Inc.

Thomas Byrnes is a veteran of the communications industry with more than 40 years experience encompassing sales, marketing, operations, and business development. Thomas serves as Senior VP, Sales and Marketing for GPX Global Systems, Inc. In this role, Thomas is the chief sales and marketing officer for the GPX Global Systems companies, and leads and manages all sales and marketing efforts. In addition, Thomas is responsible for GPX strategic business development and new market planning.

Prior to joining GPX, Thomas was Senior VP of Business Services for Abovenet, Inc. (formerly known as MFN Inc.) where he held similar responsibilities. Thomas was a key contributor to Abovenet successfully emerging from bankruptcy. In addition, he was President and sole Director of MFN International where he oversaw the international operations in Europe and Asia, and President of PAIX, MFN’s neutral Internet exchange division. He successfully handled the sale of the Company to Switch and Data in 2002.

Rick Uhler - Vice President Global Operations, GPX Global Systems, Inc.

As Vice President of Operations, Rick is responsible for the technical operations of the GPX Internet Exchanges worldwide. This includes all the data center infrastructure from the peering switch back, including power, HVAC, security, structured cabling, SDH network, customer installations, quality control, process and procedure development, and overall customer satisfaction.

Prior to joining GPX, Rick was Sales Director at Level 3 Communications responsible for marketing Level 3’s collocation, fiber optic, and capacity services to Verizon Inc. Previous to that Rick worked at MFN/Abovenet as VP of Global Program Management where he had responsibility for delivering fiber optic, data center collocation, and IP services to MFN’s largest customers. Prior to that, Rick was Manager of Network Engineering for AT&T Wireless where he had responsibility for the SONET/SDH, CDMA, and fiber optic networks.

Rick has a BSEE degree from Rutgers School of Engineering and a wealth of experience in the telecommunications industry.

Hank Kilmer - Chief Technical Officer, GPX Global Systems, Inc.

Hank Kilmer, a veteran in Internet cultivation over the last 20+ years, serves as the Chief Technical Officer for GPX Global Systems, Inc. In this role, Hank is responsible for the corporate selection, operation, and advancement of technology (from the Ethernet layer through the TCP/IP & application layer), used to provide GPX services.

Prior to joining GPX, Hank was Senior VP, Network Engineering, for Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc., (MFN) and was responsible for the architecture, engineering, and operations of the company’s U.S. and international optical and Internet networks.

Hank’s tenure in the industry includes positions with UUNET, where he was one of eight original engineers, Sprint, where he served as an early IP visionary, and Intermedia Communications, formerly DIGIX, where he held the responsibility of Director of Engineering. Hank held a seat on the first Advisory Council of ARIN, the American Registry for Internet Numbers, has been a featured speaker at NANOG, the North American Network Operator’s Group, and is currently active in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
