MEIX Specifications

In February, 2006, GPX announced its first IX hub—the GPX Middle East Internet eXchange (MEIX).

Unlike other Telco and ISP owned interconnect businesses within the region, GPX does not resell network transport or hosting services so customers can freely choose best-in-class partners for optimal price, performance and service.

GPX is located in Heliopolis, a prestigious section of Cairo, providing the inherent benefits of more reliable commercial power. The facility is located approximately two blocks, 500 meters, from the Telecom Egypt (TE) Kobba central office and a short drive 20km from the Cairo International Airport. The Kobba central office is one of the most modern in Cairo.

Fully owned by GPX Global Systems, Inc., the GPX MEIX facility is a secure, standalone data center, built to U.S. and E.U. standards for HVAC, power, security and switching capabilities for the ultimate in flexibility and reliability.

  • Separate DC power plant eliminates need for AC/DC conversion rectifiers
